Position and velocity estimation through acceleration measurements
This paper proposes a solution to the problem of velocity and position estimation for a class of oscillating systems whose position, velocity and acceleration are zero mean signals. The proposed scheme considers that the dynamic model of the system is unknown and only noisy acceleration measurements are available.
متن کاملPosition and Velocity Estimation for Two-Inertia System with Nonlinear Stiffness Based on Acceleration Sensor
In this paper, we consider the state estimation problem for flexible joint manipulators that involve nonlinear characteristics in their stiffness. The two key ideas of our design are that (a) an accelerometer is used in order that the estimation error dynamics do not depend on nonlinearities at the link part of the manipulators and (b) the model of the nonlinear stiffness is indeed a Lipschitz ...
متن کاملGPS Estimation Algorithms for Precise Velocity, Slip and Race-track Position Measurements
This paper investigates the use of carrier-phase differential GPS (CDGPS) for race car applications. In particular, experimental results are presented to demonstrate the use of CDGPS to accurately measure several key parameters of a test vehicle, including the inertial velocity, side-slip, and its precise location. This data is useful as a driver’s coaching tool because it can be used to determ...
متن کاملRecursive Estimation of Spacecraft Position and Velocity Using X-ray Pulsar Time of Arrival Measurements
The use of pulsars for spacecraft position determination has been considered since their discovery. These celestial sources provide unique signals that can be detected by sensors placed onboard spacecraft. Upon sufficient detection and processing, these signals can be used to generate range measurements with respect to an inertial reference location. Multiple measurements can be used to maintai...
متن کاملRiccati observers for position and velocity bias estimation from either direction or range measurements
This paper revisits the problems of estimating the position of an object moving in n (≥ 2)-dimensional Euclidean space using velocity measurements and either direction or range measurements of one or multiple source points. The proposed solutions exploit the Continuous Riccati Equation (CRE) to calculate observer gains yielding global exponential stability of zero estimation errors, even in the...
